NITTE School of Management inaugurates it’s fifth batch of PGDM


NITTE School of Management an autonomous Institute approved by AICTE has inaugurated it’s fifth batch of PGDM (2013-2015) on 15 July 2013. The Chief Guest, Mr. H S Upendra Kamath The Chairman & Managing Director of Vijaya Bank has graced the inauguration ceremony. The Guest of Honour, MR R Shivakumar President of FKCCI, Bangalore and Prof NR Shetty Chairman, NITTE School of Management are among the few other dignitaries in the event.


Mr. H S Upendra Kamath addressing students and parents had given a wonderful speech highlighting the role of today’s Manager. Being a Banker himself, he expressed the potential India has in the field of Banking & Finance. At present only 42% of the population are availing the Banking services, management graduates from India will be in an advantageous position as the enrollment is likely to go up in the coming years he said. The role of a Manager in an organization is to lead a team and influence people in such a way that the work or given task is completed in an effective manner he said. He congratulated all the PGDM students at NITTE School of Management and he was kind enough to lend support for the students for the education loans through Vijaya Bank. Infact all the students of PGDM at NITTE School of Management has an option to open a free bank account with Vijaya Bank.

Addressing the inauguration gathering Prof NR Shetty, the visionary brain behind NITTE School of Management stated that today’s youth is the future of our country. India being the youngest among all other countries (interms of the average age of the population) has got enormous opportunities for budding managers & entrepreneurs he said.

Students were given detailed information about the PGDM course offered at NITTE School of Management by Prof VS Manjunath, Director of NITTE School of Management. He highlighted the advantage of PGDM over MBA and he has outlined the course curriculum and the uniqueness of it’s flagship PGDM programme. In a nut shell, NITTE School of Management emphasizes more on practical learning than theory. Students are trained to meet industry requirement, NITTE School of Management has identified companies where they can send students for internships & placements (thanks to their Memorandum of Understanding with PIA & FKCCI) . Unlike in other Business Schools where the placement activity usually starts in the final sem, at NITTE he said the activity is a continuous process which starts from day 1 of the PGDM Programme.

PGDM programme at NITTE School of Management is spread across 6 trimesters, between each trimester students get an opportunity to work in the Industry for 15-21 days in the area of General Management. The final trimester is exclusively dedicated for internship in the area of the student’s specialization. Industrial visits are on regular basis, students are exposed to atleast 20 Industries in the couple of years.
