IIM Indore meets parents of IPM course students


IIM Indore concluded a two day meet for parents of Five Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). Parents were invited to interact with the faculty to conduct a performance review of the progamme and the academic performance of the students.

Around 400 parents have gathered for the meet from both the batches of IPM students, Dr. N. Ravichandran, Director, IIM Indore explained about the revised curriculum and few new areas being introduced in the IPM. Embedding the management curriculum in a broader liberal arts setting will provide students with a diverse body of knowledge, different perspectives from which to understand and interpret the world around them, and the ability to leverage positive externalities between different subjects, he said. Motivated by a belief in an enhanced ability to influence young students, Dr. Ravichandran said that this programme will therefore allow the Institute to meet students’ aspirations while moulding them into outstanding management professionals, change agents and societal leaders.

This was followed by a 45 minutes QA session where the parents put forward various concerns about the programme including the status of degree granting process being considered by the Government of India.

The Director’s address was followed by a detailed briefing by Dr. Nagarajan Krishnamurti, Chair, IPM on the Manual & Course structure of the programme. During one-to-one interaction of parents and students with the Faculty, they were explained about the newly introduced online application which can be accessed by the parents to monitor their wards’ progress in terms of their attendance record, grades etc.

Cultural programmes spread out over two days and organized by the IPM students were the highlight of the event. A spectacular show featuring salsa, hip hop sequence, dramas, contemporary dance, western and solo performances enthralled the audience. The students came up with new acts such as UV dance, magic show and stop motion animation to name a few. Dancers from the states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan showcased their local cultures and traditions through their colorful local dances.

The parents who were given accommodation in the campus left with wonderful and cherished memories and expressed their sincere gratitude to the Institute for organizing the Meet.
