IIM Calcutta giving extra marks to girl students; is it justified?

Premier management Institute IIM Calcutta want to tap in more number of girls students for it’s flagship postgraduate management course this academic year. Three extra points will be given for female students at the pre-interview stage, the  move will enable more number of female students to appear for the final stage of selection.

Taking the lead from IIM Calcutta, IIM Ahmedabad & IIM Bangalore too will take a call on extra credits to female students. IIMs & IITs over the last few years striving to pull in female students, for instance IITs have waived off the application fee for JEE for girls; while the application fee for boys has increased by 100%.
