Centre for Excellence in Telecom Technology and Management (CETTM), the telecom training centre of MTNL and Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research have joined hands to train talent specifically for the telecom industry.
The official announcement of the same was made when the two stalwarts signed a Memorandum of Understanding at an event held on 6 September at Welingkar’s Mumbai Campus.
The Centre is known for providing extensive training to corporates, students and the employees of MTNL in telecom switching, transmission, wireless communication, telecom operations and management. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research is one of the premiere b- schools in the country with two campuses in Mumbai and Bengaluru. It is known for its innovative approach and programs that keep in sync with the emerging challenges of the industry.
The MoU pledges mutual cooperation on developing programs to develop human resources specifically for telecom management . This is expected to boost the existing talent supply to the rapidly expanding telecom industry.
The MoU anounced the launch of two autonomous programs – Post Graduate Program in Telecom Management (PGPTM) and Certificate Course in Telecom Marketing & Management (CTMM) with duration of 11 months and three months respectively. The technological expertise will be provided by the the experts at the CETTM training center while Welingkar will groom them in management skills in sessions at Welingkar Campus, Mumbai.
Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, Welingkar Education, expressed a great sense of optimism about the collaboration. He said, “The collaboration will definitely bolster human capital development specifically for the telecom industry which requires a cross-functional and high-caliber talent. The upswing in the sector has pushed up the demand for a dexterous workforce adept in cross functionalities spanning over technology and management; the initiative will definitely beef up the talent supply for the sector with
Welingkar happens to be the first b school to join hands with MTNL for delivering specialized management programmes for the sector. Expressing similar sentiments Mr AK Garg, Chairman & MD, MTNL said, “We are glad to have entered into a partnership with WeSchool which will help us to get quality professionals to work for our industry…we believe that the collaboration will help us enhance the quality of training while making it more relevant to today’s business environment.”
Mentioning the standards of excellence set by CETTM, Mr Peeyush Agarwal, Executive Director, MTNL said “We aim at providing training of international standards and create and develop knowledge through applied and concept research in Telecom Technology and Management. We look forward to this association with WeSchool and hope to train the skilled workforce which would cater to the demands of the telecom industry.”
