Confusion over UGC NET eligibility


The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) to determine eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals in order to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in the teaching profession and research. UGC conducts NET twice a year in the months of June and December.

The results of the June NET has been declared recently, aspirants are in a confusion over the eligibility or the minimum marks required to pass the test. According to new eligibility norms aspirants need an aggregate of 65% in all three papers (60% for OBC and 55% for others) to be eligible for lectureship.

Candidates are now in a dilemma over the new eligibility norms which spiked up recently, these norms were not specified while the NET notification released.
