The tweaking of the selection process at IITs has finally resulted in JEE Main & JEE Advanced, JEE Main is only a screening or preliminary test and JEE Advanced is the final stage of the selection process. As notified earlier not all students will be allowed to take part in JEE Advanced, there are two stages where an IIT aspirant get eliminated. At stage one, a student must be in the top 150,000 students in JEE Main and second stage the student must be a topper whose names features in the top 20 percentile list of his or her respective board.
If the student crosses these two barriers there is one more round that will be JEE Advanced, students who clear JEE Advanced will only be eligible for admission process in IITs. The JEE Advanced, if reports have to be believed is slated to be held on 02 June 2013, one would have a doubt on why the JEE Advanced date has been reported first without any mention on JEE Main, which is preliminary test or a qualifying test for JEE Advanced. As of now we don’t have answer for this, but as per our guess there will be a month gap between JEE Main & JEE Advanced. One can assume the date of JEE Main to be somewhere in the first week of May.
JEE Advanced pattern will be similar to earlier JEE versions, it will be objective based test held in two phases and test Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics subjects.
Aspiring IIT students can take necessary actions and start preparing accordingly.
