EAMCET 2012 counselling likely from 23 August

The EAMCET was concluded on 12 May 2012 and the results were declared on 29 June 2012; close to seven weeks have passed since the results got declared. The counselling dates are yet to be announced by the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE). It is expected that the EAMCET 2012 counselling will commence from 23 August 2012. The fee structure issue has been sorted out by chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy after having a meeting with the management personnel of engineering colleges.

Other states such as Karnataka have started the engineering counselling process and the same is nearing for closure, however in Andhra Pradesh the dates wasn’t announced. The counselling process will take a month; assuming the EAMCET 2012 counselling process starts on 23 August it is most likely to get over before September last week. The engineering classes will commence during the last week of September .

It is important to be prepared for the counselling process, researching a bit on the colleges and courses will surely be a plus point. The engineering courses are categorized as follows:

  • B.E. / B.Tech.
  • B.Tech.(Agriculture. Engg.)
  • B.Tech.(Bio-Technology) (M.P.C.)
  • B.Tech.(Dairy Technology)
  • B.Tech.(Food Science &  Technology)
  • B.Sc.(CA & BM) (M.P.C.)
  • B.Pharm (M.P.C.)
  • Pharm-D (M.P.C.)

Colleges that admit students under the counseling based on EAMCET ranks fall under these university regions:

  • Andhra University (AU region)
  • Osmania University (OU region)
  • Sri Venkateswara University (SVU region)
  • Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU region)

Also research on the affiliated colleges by visiting the University websites, be sure to choose the oldest engineering college according to your Rank. Older the Institute better it is, it is a general thumb rule and while deciding the specialization to opt in; go for the one which suits you best. Be sure to select only AICTE approved colleges and give least preference to new colleges as they won’t be able to find quality teaching staff and certain resource constraints will stop them to provide quality education to students. It is better to choose an old (well established) even if it is not in your hometown than choosing a new college which is in your home place.

Over the past 10 years or so engineering students have shown preference of specializations as follows

  • ECE
  • EEE
  • Mechanical
  • Computer Science
  • Civil Engineering &
  • Information Technology

As far as our experience is concerned the order of preference should be

  • Computer Science
  • Information Technology
  • ECE
  • EEE
  • Mechanical
  • Civil Engineering

However the order mentioned above is only for those who don’t have any specialization preference. If someone is more interested in Mechanical Engineering then it is wise to give Mechanical Engineering as their first preference.
