AP High Court asks APSCHE to explain EAMCET counselling delay

Responding to a petition filed by a student of Secunderabad K Arun, justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy asked the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) and convener of EAMCET-2012 to give explanation for prolonged delay in conducting EAMCET 2012 counselling.

The HC judge on Tuesday had asked APSCHE & EAMCET convener to submit full details as an affidavit by 17 August 2012. The delay in announcing the EAMCET counselling dates was because of the issues interlinked with the fee hike. Majority of the private colleges have agreed for Rs 35,000 annual fee, an increase of Rs 3800 from the current fee structure. Few colleges are insisting to have the fee raised to Rs 50,200. The High court directed the principal secretary to higher education and member-secretary to AFRC (Admission & Fee Regulatory Committee) to file affidavits explaining the reasons for not finalizing the fee structure for technical and engineering colleges till date. The affidavits should be placed before the court by Augusts 21
