Approve Additional MBBS Seats In Telangana Medical Colleges – High Court Tells MCI


The apex body of Medical education in India MCI (Medical Council of India) has been directed by the high court of Andhra Pradesh to approve additional MBBS seats in Telangana Medical Colleges. (via) Earlier MCI has declined the proposals from colleges hosted in Telangana citing lack of adequate infrastructure and maintenance related issues. However MCI had approved additional intake in Medical Colleges located in Andhra Region.

Responding to a petition filed by Osmania University & Kakatiya University, the high court of Andhra Pradesh has directed MCI to sanction 150 medical seats in three associated colleges of the above said Universities. High court has also asked the colleges to improvise the infrastructure needs to meet the MCI guidelines.

Andhra Pradesh has the highest number of medical seats comparing with any state in India. A total of 5600 medical seats are available in Andhra Pradesh.
