IIT Kanpur Wants To Have It’s Own Entrance Test From 2013

The discussions between IITs and MHRD seems to have taken new heights, earlier the HRD Minister Kapil Sibal expressed his intent to hold a nation wide common engineering entrance test from 2013. The idea of including IITs, NITs & IIITs under the new test along side with other engineering colleges is disliked by senates of the IITs and IIT alumni association. According to reports IIT Kanpur wants to hold it’s own entrance test from next academic year if JEE has to be replaced by a new entrance exam.

Sibal with support from IIT and NIT Council has drafted a plan to hold ISEET, after months long discussions it was decided to include NITs, IITs, IIITs and few centrally funded Institutes. With no option left IITs are looking over the law book to prevent the taking over of autonomy by the MHRD. IIT Kanpur stated that the new proposal is a violation of Institutes of Technology Act (1961) and IIT Kanpur Ordinances (Ordinance 3.2 (Admissions).

  1. Hi,
Congratulations to IIT Kanpur, for telling kapil sibal where to get off.
This man has a self righteous devious lawyer mind.
He wants to go down in history as a minister who made sweeping changes.
But so far he has distinguished himself only for sweeping , as per his Italian madame’s command.
