According to a report the Principals of 19 private medical colleges are summoned by department of medical education for questioning in connection with selling of management quota seats. The report further stated that each seat has been sold for Rs 1.5 cr each, Andhra Pradesh has a total of 750 PG medical seats of which 375 belong to management quota.
Taking an advantage of the demand that exist for medical seats, colleges are violating the norms mentioned by the Medical Council of India. The management quota seats are supposedly to be given by merit students only after the government conducts counseling. Colleges are also required to advertise the notification on leading news dailies, following several complaints from the candidates Medical Council of India has intervened into the seat selling scam. MCI has asked the colleges to furnish full details about the management quota seats; further more MCI might ask these colleges to cancel the admission offers made by violating the norms.
