IITJEE 2012: Changes Made & Implemented This Year

The Joint Admission Board (JAB) this year has announced few changes to IITJEE system and successfully implemented. This year there was no application fee for female students, there will be category wise absolute cut-off marks in each subjects. Only those candidates who attempted both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be considered for the ranking. Marks in Physics in IIT-JEE 2012 will be equal to marks in Physics section of Paper 1 plus marks in Physics section of Paper 2. Similar procedure will be followed for Chemistry and Mathematics. The sum of the marks obtained in the individual subjects in IIT-JEE 2012 will be the aggregate marks for the candidate.

JEE aspirants were given carbonless copy paper based answer sheets (optical response sheets) as records of their performance. The answer sheets were displayed in the web along with the correct answer choice(s) and machine-read responses (ORS), allowing the candidates the opportunity to submit revision request in case of any perceived error in the ORS. Candidates who accept seats in the earlier rounds(s) are allowed to withdraw their acceptance before the final round of seat allocation.

There are an approximate of 10,000 seats in all IITs and participating Institutes close to 500,000 students have written IITJEE this year. The results are expected on or before 18 May 2012, first time in the history of JEE the answer keys are uploaded ahead of the results.
