Aspiring JEE & AIEEE aspirants who wish to aim for the Country’s premier Engineering Colleges namely IITs & NITs are in a state of confusion. Neither the HRD Ministry nor the IIT council made any official announcement on the modalities of the common engineering entrance test ISEET. As per a report the final call will be taken on May 28, 2012, the discussions held on 12 May 2012 drew no conclusion.
Sources revealed that ISEET didn’t get a nod from the IIT council other than IIT Guwahati none of the senates from the six IITs are keen to accept deviation in the IIT selection process. The final call on ISEET will be taken on 28 May 2012, IITs argue that the change needs to systematic and atleast a 2 years period is required to adopt such drastic change.
MHRD has been convincing IITs & NITs to merge AIEEE & JEE to have a single test instead of two. Not only the merger but Ministry also has proposed adequate weight to board exams (40%) in the final selection for the premier engineering colleges. Ex IITians have been protesting ever since MHRD announced it’s will to tweak the selection process at IITs.
While experts believe that keeping importance to board exams will enable students gain theoretical knowledge, students argue that board exam marks vary from board to board and it is pretty easy for book worms to score in board exams.
