Decision On ISEET Not Yet Taken

Aspiring JEE & AIEEE aspirants who wish to aim for the Country’s premier Engineering Colleges namely IITs & NITs are in a state of confusion. Neither the HRD Ministry nor the IIT council made any official announcement on the modalities of the common engineering entrance test ISEET. As per a report the final call will be taken on May 28, 2012, the discussions held on 12 May 2012 drew no conclusion.

Sources revealed that ISEET didn’t get a nod from the IIT council other than IIT Guwahati none of the senates from the six IITs are keen to accept deviation in the IIT selection process. The final call on ISEET will be taken on 28 May 2012, IITs argue that the change needs to systematic and atleast a 2 years period is required to adopt such drastic change.

MHRD has been convincing IITs & NITs to merge AIEEE & JEE to have a single test instead of two. Not only the merger but Ministry also has proposed adequate weight to board exams (40%) in the final selection for the premier engineering colleges. Ex IITians have been protesting ever since MHRD announced it’s will to tweak the selection process at IITs.

While experts believe that keeping importance to board exams will enable students gain theoretical knowledge, students argue that board exam marks vary from board to board and it is pretty easy for book worms to score in board exams.

What are your views! Do tell us, should ISEET take over JEE & AIEEE from next year?

  1. hey who stops studying better u luk for sum else advice dhruv….. well its jus an drastic move bdw u shud see d positive things of iseet not to rewind the negative again & again…. !!!! everything has gott positiv & as well as negativ.. ( SO GUYS SUPPORT ISEET ITS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL)!!! DNT SEE IT IN A NEGATIVE WAY!!!

  2. With various state exams, the volume was well distributed. Its not that all sat for the JEE. There were geographical preferences, aptitude preferences and some went only for specific entrance exam for engineering. But now as there is no option all will go for ISEET. Will the exam conducting body be able to manage the Volume???. I very much doubt. This aspect I think was ignored in all the MHRD and senate meetings. There will be chaos and lot of errors. Students who have studied day and night will be the ultimate victims. The authorities must think on this too.

  3. sir, please note my points

1- engeering needs good knowledge in science, then why should a student forcibly have to put his interest in literature to score 90+ to increase his all over%… suppose a student is brilliantly strong in science but not in literature ,,what shall he do…he may loose the chance to qualify first 50k due to few board %.

2-if sibbal wants that student should get into iit with good board %,,then rather he should increase eligibility of board % ( say instead of 60,it should be 80),,but accounting board %,,then the students will be in race to get maximum %age,,,it will create a great stress..

3- due to iseet there will be greater malpractices in board sytem,,,even in our state,,,if u pay 30 to 40k to a broker who haave hands in board council, he wil get his desired board %.

4- it will be single option ,,, ie hit n try…or wait for next semi year.bt the admsions are done only once in a yera,,so what is the need conduct iseet twice a year….even the scores will also valid for next two years,,,will create a greater chaos..n stiff competetion.

5-if a student is much brilliant n deserves iit ,, but he doesnot qualify to top 50k due to lack in few point board percent,,, but he does extremely well in advnc test..and his allover iseet score is greater than top 50k students,,but he doesnot get into iit,it will be a great injustice with him..

sir please,,,mark my points///. thank you

  4. EVERYONE SHOULD WELCOME ISEET!!! ITSA GOOD MOVE by MHRD OFFICIALS..THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT..IITJEE SHOULD BE BANNED & ISEET SHUD BE WELCOMED!! IT WL HELP EVERYBODY & GIVE EVERYONE A CORRECT OPPORTUNITY!! WAT ABOUT THE POOR BACKWARD STUDENTS??? THEY ARE ALSO TALENTED>> THE BOY WHO CUMS 1st that fello can be next from those poor talented people bt they cnt show their potentila only cos of money… ISEET WELCOMES THEM WARMLY>>>ALL SHUD WELCOME ISEET

    1. Ashi, grow up !!!!!!!!!!!!! start studying instead wait for GOD ( read MHRD ) to fulfil your dreams. IIT is for brains not for lucky draw ticket, so that anyone drwas it and waits for his number to be selected. There are enough brains working on that. so give yours a REST. please.

    2. ASHI!! I THINK THAT YOU ARE NOT SCIENCE STUDENT AND YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO BECOME AN IITIAN , I MAY TELL YOU THAT IT TAKES MONTHS OF HARD WORK AND PRACTICE
AND MR.SIBAL IT JUST SPOLING THE WHOLE THING BY INCLUDING BOARD EXAMS MARKS .

  5. IIT JEE is the pride of india we would not let it be murdered as of now the question of inclusion of board marks for admission into iits is the jock of the millenium in itself.

  6. Iseet is like a golden opportunity for those students who only believe in self studies… but main problem is with those students who taking aieee/jee coaching… their money and time will be spoiled… but we should understand that in our country there are many brilliant minds who cannot afford money for aieee/jee coaching… iseet give equal opportunity to every student… in case for the students who r taking aieee/jee coaching… iseet would much a lot easier to score excellent marks than in aieee/jee… so why they opposes the iseet system… according to me introduction of iseet will be a revolutionary change in the corrupt system of our education… therefore iseet should introduce as early as possible

  7. ISEET is the best exam, but it is better to inform atleast 4 years, and syllabus shoud be be changed accordingly and board marks should not be any weightage.I think ISEET exam is going to make the world record that large members took in one day.

  8. Unless a student is thorough with his basic sciences and routine studies in his board syllabus, he cannot be a scholar in any of the streams. So it is of no use to give board marks weightage in the selection process.
    ISEET should not replace IIT-JEE

  9. yah iit & aieee shold be saved fron ”watage sysem ‘ its school studies is based on how well u reside..its just book worm !!!! & we all know in India there are so many boards. & it is not possible that boards are carried out in true way . so what that students who really work hard but couldnt cheat or make well impression on school to get good marks.
on the other hand including apttitude & english is not that idea , but true it requires time to adopt new & different things . same as PCM , apttitdue too sharp students mind & can dig true ability :))

i have appeared in iit 2012 but couldnt crack it , wish to take drop !!!!
but this percentage wagate system is big hurdle ahead, i m not able to guess wht is right step take a drop or join any other collage. since m marks will b not that good of boards.

  10. ISEET IS A RIGHT MOVE BUT GIVING 40% WEITAGTE TO BOARD EXAM WILL DILUTE THE CURRENT ENGINEERING ENTRANCE…. SO SOME CHANGES SHOULD MAKE….IN ORDER TO SELECT THE CORRECT ELIGIBILITY FOR ENGINEERING IN IIT-JEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. i think iseet should not be launched because weigtage to board only brings more and more corruption into account there are many schools that take bribe and tell the answers to students but the students whose parents can not give bribe may be very well in studies goet less marks but their is not bribe system in entrance test like iit and aieee. it is free and fair so current system is ok and iseet should not be launched

  12. its very good move by the govt. the peoples or the institution who opposes the new format are indirectly beneficial. importance for the board exam encourages the poor students. govt must implement the new format.there is a smell of corruption in the opposition by the iit senates

  13. iseet is no solution to the current problems.coachings will still grow ,they will start preparing students for both boards & ISEET .iseet will rather dilute the quality of students selected.so the current system must go on.

  14. there is urgent need fr iseet,, since many test formula is troublesome,,,,, its very difficult fr poor guys like me to afford many entrance test fees,,,, n towering coaching fees fr iit or Aieee ,,,,,, 40% weitage will reduce much dependence on money making coaching institutions,,,,,,,,,,,, all sud realise n look forward with new this system,,,,,,,,,

    1. Its just complicating the whole system the students who can’t manage to secure good marks in IIT JEE can try for AIEEE or CEE etc but only a single engg entrance will make it far more tough and competitve…… Which is a curse to average students……. A very poor move by the government.

  15. In the recently concluded board exams in A.P. for the first year student in maths paper 3 marks were awarded out of 7. The problem was solved in proper way and correctly. But the method is different. The problems can be solved in different methods. It is the fault of the valuer in not understanding the method. For doing the problem in a different method than the method usually told in the class shouldl be appreciated and not punished. If marks are awarded like this, how can it be fair to give 40% weightage to the Board marks in the ISEET. When appproached the Board, the reply was that there is no re-evaluation of the valued answers even if the evaluation was wrong.

  16. It is better to look at the positive aspects of the ISEET proposed. ISEET should be conducted from 2013 onwords. It will do away with multiple entrance examinations and reduce the stress levels of students. Whether the weightage of Class 12 Board examinations will be only for group marks or group and languages together. What is meant that Weightage: At least 40% to Class XII Board Exams (Can go up to 100%). Pl clarify
