Seven Institutes have got approval from The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for downing the shutters. Three of them are from Maharashtra while the rest are from Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. With Business Schools and Engineering Colleges mushrooming every where in the Country, the vacant seat positions in each state is a major concern for the Management.
Year by year AICTE has also been increasing the seats in Management & Engineering Colleges, this year most MBA colleges have got approval for 60 additional seats. Increased intake will only utilize the existing infrastructure and same faculty for certain Institutes. While reputed colleges emphasize on improving faculty strength, academic content others utilize for spending on advertisements to attract students.
This year a total of 138 Institutes have approached AICTE for seeking approval to shut down, 15 Engineering, 65 Management and 29 MCA Institutes have felt the heat. It is possible more Institutes too go for closure in the coming year’s ahead if they consistently fail to zero in on the vacant seats.
Share your views, should AICTE stop giving approval for establishing new Engineering & Management Colleges.
