Though Business Schools are already busy selecting students (for MBA Admissions 2012-2013 session) through ATMA, CAT, MAT & XAT; a verdict given by the apex court on March 01, 2012 will make life simpler for these Business Schools. “Supreme Court has said that CMAT is just another entrance test for this year and business schools can use scores of any standardized tests like ATMA, CAT, MAT, XAT & JMET (JMET scrapped to replace with CAT). for MBA or PGDM Admissions”
Over 70,000 students have taken CMAT and the results will be declared on 11 March 2012. At a time when students are of the view that CMAT will be the only test for MBA admissions from 2013; AIMA has announced the dates for May MAT and AIMA official website carried a notice stating that AIMA will continue to hold MAT and positively announced the dates till February 2013. As MAT is held four times year, the not so difficult entrance test MAT is widely popular among Business School aspirants.
Unless there is a clear indication from AICTE that CMAT will be the only test from 2013 (apart from CAT); chances are that everything else remains the same. What do you think?
While HRD Ministry is busy drafting ISEET from 2013 by merging AIEEE & IITJEE; AICTE will look to mandate CMAT. There is a possibility that B Schools cannot afford to open their mouth against CMAT or AICTE fearing de affiliation :). About 3500+ Business Schools in India are under AICTE; the fate of those Business Schools who never had AICTE stamp are under a question if CMAT rules out other management entrance exams except CAT.
