AIMA Will Continue To Conduct MAT Despite CMAT

According to an announcement on AIMA website, AIMA will continue to conduct MAT (Management Aptitude Test) despite of CMAT. The notification slammed the erroneous news from various news papers stating that AIMA will withdraw MAT. The detailed notification also pointed out that the online version of MAT was opted only by 9% of aspirants in the past three years.

CMAT is an online entrance test debuted this year; about 70,000 applicants have been registered for the test. AIMA is clear enough to say that MAT has two formats online & offline while CMAT is an online only test.

The extract from the notification as mentioned on AIMA website is as below:

There are no plans to discontinue the MAT exam, as it is the largest test of its kind with national acceptance. AIMA will continue to administer MAT to MBA aspirants and recently concluded a test on 5th February 2012.The schedule of the next few MAT Tests is as under:

  • 6th May 2012
  • 2nd September 2012
  • 2nd December 2012
  • 3rd February 2013

Earlier we had reported that AIMA is in plans to withdraw MAT in the near future; the announcement from AIMA is clearly an eye wash. What do you think, will AICTE pressurize AIMA to shut MAT?

  1. can i able to register offline for the MAT EXAM which is going to held on 6th may 2012,as i am failed to register online.

  2. AIMA seems to be strugglling for existence in the CMAT wave. Government has clearly indicated that there will be only 2 management admission tests CAT and CMAT. MAT has no place from next year. This AIMA announcement is clearly aimed to save their May and September audience and nothing else.
