The world’s low cost tablet Aakash will now go free, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal told to sources. Aakash tablet was launched on 05 October 2012 by Kapil Sibal, initially the price was subsidized by the Government and students used to get at a discounted price (Rs 2500/-). While the commercial version UbiSlate 7 was priced at Rs 2900/-.
HRD Minister plans to make Aakash Tablet free for students, apart from the subsidized price Sibal wants the Institutes to contribute instead of asking students to pay.
