Ex Student of IIT Bombay Donates USD 5 Million To Alma Mater


Alma Mater according to Wikipedia is termed as any school, college, or university at which one has studied and, usually, from which one has graduated. Romesh Wadhwani is an alumnus of IIT Bombay (1969 batch), he is the founder of Symphony Technology Group and chairman of Wadhwani Foundation. Wadhwani has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay.

Romesh Wadhwani has donated USD 5 Million and inaugurated Wadhwani Research Centre in Biosciences & Bioengineering at IIT-Bombay campus. The Institute will dedicate it’s research on cancer cell biology, signaling mechanisms in immune cells, computational biology, computational neurobiology, bio-nanotechnology, biosensors, drug delivery systems and others.

At a time when the World is slamming India for gaps in the area of research and doctorate holders; a USD 5 Million as a gift is a blessing.
