IIM Ranchi To Do Away With Traditional Class Room Lectures

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi will do away with the traditional class room lectures from July this year. The Institute is planning to enable virtual class room sessions; all lectures will be broadcasted live, students can attend sessions through Tablets or Laptops.

Each student will have to put their thumb impression every 30 minutes as part of their attendance activity; biometric sensors identify individuals based on their thumb impression.

Students and Professors will have face to face interactions; web cameras are affixed to their devices. The communication gap that may exist due to virtual learning will disappear.

What do you think? Should other Institutes also use technology to this extent? Or do you prefer traditional lectures? Share your views!
