CMAT To Take Over State Level Management Entrance Tests From 2013

The Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) is an online only management entrance test to be conducted by AICTE with technical support from APTECH; CMAT 2012 is scheduled to be held during 20 February 2012 to 28 February 2012. Online registrations are currently open, the last date to register online is 09 January 2012.

This year CMAT has not taken over the state level management entrance exams (CET) as many business schools expressed their inability to select students based on CMAT scores. The timing of the announcement and the schedule of the test was the main concerns business schools are complaining about. Each year business schools plan their admissions well in advance and entrance exams such as ATMA, MAT and CAT are the one’s many business schools consider.

Next year on CMAT is expected to take over state level entrance exams Maharashtra gave nod for the replacement; other states too will come forward. CMAT can reduce pressure on students to a greater extent; avoid multiple exams save application cost from next year as most business schools will use CMAT scores. Jamanlal Bajaj Institute of Management, Sydenham Institute of Management Studies too will use CMAT percentiles reports Times of India.

CMAT should move front and should be placed after the CAT; hopefully next year CMAT will not be a just another management entrance test. It could be as big as CAT; close to 250,000 students are expected to appear this year the number might be even bigger next year. What do you think?

University of Kerala expressed their consent to accept CMAT scores from this year; admissions across MBA colleges of Kerala are based on CMAT, GD and PI.
