196,000 Students Opted for Online AIEEE – 2012

The online submission of AIEEE 2012 was closed on 31 December 2011; 196,000 students have opted for the online (CBT- Computer Based Test) mode reports Times of India. This is the second year the test is being conducted in online & offline modes; last year as part of pilot testing only 100,000 students had the option of choosing online mode.

Rather surprisingly only 4900 students opted online test last year; this year CBSE didn’t keep bar on the online mode of test. 196,000 students have chosen to appear out of the 1200,000 (expected) AIEEE 2012 registrants.

careermitra.com polls indicated that 71% of students are going to choose offline mode while 29% students proffered to take online test. The online mode is available only for B.E or B.Tech but not for B.Arch this would have biased the decision to an extent. Overall the numbers indicate that in future students may feel more comfortable online than offline.

We had also written a post on choosing the mode of test for AIEEE, you can find it here.
