The newly proposed Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) by AICTE hasn’t yet got convincing views. Earlier it was Business Schools who opposed; later it was the All India Management Association (AIMA) who took over CMAT saying MAT is way ahead of the online only CMAT.
In a recent clarification by Gujarat, state education department has clarified that Gujarat will not adopt the Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) to be conducted by AICTE in February 2012. The state students have to appear for Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET) for MBA & MCA admissions commencing from next academic year.
The state level entrance tests solves the purpose for both MBA & MCA courses, whereas CMAT will only be helpful for MBA courses; the state has to to conduct GCET anyway. The same information was given to AICTE while seeking exemption from CMAT.
