AICTE Mandates CMAT; B Schools Oppose

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has recently announced CMAT (Common Management Aptitude Test); an online test for admissions into management courses in India. The registration process has began already and the test will be held during 20-Feb-2012 to 28-Feb-2012.

When the announcement was made AICTE didn’t mention that it is a mandatory test; there are even other management entrance exams such as MAT which opens door for both AICTE & Non AICTE approved colleges. Lately AICTE insisted that CMAT would be the only test business schools should accept; such announcement had let business schools dissatisfied as they have already made plans for enrolling students through other national level entrance exams such as CAT, MAT, ATMA.

B Schools are blaming AICTE for ill timed decision, all though the issue was bought up last year. In students point of you it is advisable that you appear for CMAT.
