Improve Quality or Shut Shop: AICTE Chairman

The All India Council for Technical Education chairman S.S Mantha has warned professional colleges failing to show consistent quality in offering education. Institutes failing to do so might face students shortage which will force private institutes to shut shop. He has said under the Right to Information act AICTE receives 100 applications on a daily basis; requesting information for the approval status of private colleges.

It is not the end when an Institute secures AICTE approval once; AICTE keeps a close eye even after sanctioning the approval. Colleges should renew their approval status every year; students interested to pursue professional courses needs to keep this in mind.

Although AICTE made it mandatory to keep the mandatory regulations form on the college websites very few students know about such a thing. Going forward AICTE will continue to approve more engineering colleges despite vacant seats mounting every year.

If more engineering colleges join every year the troubled colleges will have to face tough time to bring in students and the quality deters further.
