The Financial Express has reported that the IT training major Aptech is assigned the responsibility of holding the maiden ‘Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT)’ to be conduced by the technical and management education regulatory body AICTE. As notified earlier CMAT will debut in February 2012 and is scheduled to held during 20th February to 28th February 2012.
Earlier AICTE invited tenders from interested parties who wish to conduct CMAT, Aptech was among the front runners; the bidders also included IT enabled services major Tata Consultancy Services, US testing agency Prometric (who deals with organizing CAT in India). Aptech might also operate a call center to facilitate smooth process and handle queries related to admit cards, registration, test format and seat allocation etc.
The first ever CMAT is expecting a participation of about 250,000 test takers; the notification is likely to be out sooner. There is a question mark on what happens with tests like ATMA and MAT, will CMAT wipe off state level and management level entrance tests? How do other examination conducting bodies like AIMA and ATMA reacts to CMAT is something we will wait and watch, be with us.
