USA Favorite Destination for Indian Students

The embassy of the United States of America has reported an 18% increase in student visa applications year to year. Students applications have gone up by 7024 to reach a total of 46,982 in 2011 vs 39,958 in 2010. In US the fiscal year extends from October through September; FY2011 recently ended on September 30.

To meet the ever-increasing demand for student visas, in FY2011 the U.S. Mission to India conducted extensive outreach in communities across the country, visiting academic associations, schools, and universities to reach prospective applicants and provide accurate visa information. The Mission significantly increased funding for the EducationUSA Advising Centers at the U.S.-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), which provides educational seminars and advising opportunities both in-person and via the internet.

More than 100,000 Indian students are currently studying at universities across the United States, and thousands more will join them in the coming academic year. This increase denotes the close people-to-people ties between the United States and India, and reflects the desire of highly qualified students to receive a world-class education in the United States.

  1. Many students want to study in United States because they offer higher standard of education as to some of the other nations. And students get better job prospects after completion of education in USA.
