Master of Computer Applications or MCA is a three year postgraduate degree awarded in India. The core emphasis of MCA course is to make students learn designing  on application software. Nearly 1000 Institutes in India offer MCA course with an annual intake of about 60,000 seats.


The minimum eligibility required to study MCA course in India is a three years bachelor’s degree in computer applications (BCA). MCA can be termed as a replacement to a 4 year engineering degree such B.Tech or B.E. MCA students might be treated as par with engineering graduates.

Entrance Test

National Institutes of Technology conducts NIMCET (NIT Common Entrance Test) for admissions into MCA courses offered by these prestigious Institutes.


NIMCET is a national level entrance test conducted by NITs for admission to their MCA programme. NIMCET will usually be held in second or third week of May, forms will be issued in either last week of January or first week of February.
