NEET Not EAMCET in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh MBBS aspirants this year will have to work on ‘National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)’ or also termed as ‘Common Medical Entrance Test’ to be conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on behalf of MCI (via). The proposed NEET UG is expected to be held on May 13, 2012 as reported earlier. The Hindu also reported that the state government has reserved the rights to conduct counseling instead of MCI, 85% seats for home students and 15% seats are for students from other states.

NEET UG will have 180 questions, comprising 45 each from physics, chemistry, botany and zoology. The test will be of 180 minutes duration with centres in all district headquarters. Application forms are likely to be issued in the month of December this year. There will not be negative marks in the test, so students can attempt as many questions as possible but keep in mind that negative marks will come into effect in-case of a tie breaker (where two students get same marks or rank). Students should also note that even Dental Council of India the apex body for dental education has also agreed for NEET, so students willing to go for BDS will also be taking the NEET.

It is unclear whether the question paper of NEET UG will be printed in Telugu or not; earlier MCI had told that the paper will be in Hindi & English, following MCI’s stand the state government has opposed NEET stating it will inconvenience students from Telugu medium. So Andhra students will have to work on preparing for the NEET without knowing what the syllabus is, looks embarrassing but it is true the syllabus for the proposed NEET UG is not announced yet.

Now another important issue that MCI is going to face is, state governments new request of holding the test (NEET UG) in Telugu; approximately 40,000 students are likely to take EAMCET in regional language (Telugu) every year. What will be the fate of these poor champs now; how will they learn understanding questions in English in just few months of time?

To all the people who thinks it is fair; just keep in view that if you were asked to take the test in Telugu instead of English will you be “OK’ with this? Despite Telugu being mother tongue you will not be comfortable to accept it; hence it is totally unfair to ask these students to take the test in English or Hindi. Speaking in English is different and understanding medical terminology in English is different, my view is that students who have been preparing from the past two years shouldn’t be thrown into the dark. Consideration has to be there; nothing wrong in being trained in regional language MCI should rethink it’s decision.

What do you think? Is it a fair decision? Did the state government of Andhra Pradesh negotiated well with MCI officials? Leave your thoughts!

Update: Today sources reported ‘Andhra Pradesh Government is requesting MCI officials to defer NEET by one year’. Which means AP wants to adopt NEET UG in 2013. (via)

    1. AP govt is fighting it over, they want to have NEET UG from 2014. A decision on this is awaited, please wait for the official announcement.

  1. Is it confirm that a.p students are going to write examin 2013?
Please reply us fast as all the students in a.p are very tenIsed for this

    1. Yes yes.. even in AP it is been confirmed, counselling will take place by state govt, they needn’t share their seats with other states.

  2. Dear All
I am the parent of a child who is in XI std now and preparing to face State Board in March. Me being in the Army my all three daughters had to study in local schools, Army Schools as well as Central Schools. My eldest daughter has become a Doctor qualifying in JEE from West Bengal and then studying at Bankura Sammelani Medical College , West Bengal( 2010) and soon join us here where we have settled permanently post retirement. My younger Daughter has completed Btech from BVRIT and now pursuing her MBA from IMT Ghaziabad. And the youngest who has studied maximum numbers of years in one place i.e KV secunderabad and now to Chaitanya Junior College preparing for the NEET 2012-13.
As 85 % of the seats are revered for the local category aspiring students should not worry much as the degree of difficulty due to language will be commonly shared by all hailing from rural or urban background in the whole state of AP.
So do not loose sleep on the issue of the language but concentrate on your studies and work hard and harder. You are destined to win .

  3. do v guys really have neet ? if yes then frm which year i mean in this particular year or from 2012-2013 batch onwards. please guys let me know

      1. hello srikanth……………hope that neet to be conducted next year so that i can write neet…….please let us hope neet to be conducted……..

  4. hi actually iam from karnataka bellary.i dnt ever understand 1thing y dis mci people behave in such a irresponsible manner what rigth dey hav to play with life of students jst once think of the state board students what sin dey hav commited.such a huge portion has to be civered to attend for 2nd year public exam n in addition to dat study additional syllabus which dey never even heard of topics n knew nth of it is dat fare for MCI people plzzzzzzzz do think once of the poor students how culd dey cover such a huge portion in term of 1 year if these MCI people want to improve these fields they hav to change the portions for fresh batch who enter into 1st puc n den appear for NEET instead of what nonsense is going on here its still not yet decided to make final or no n is dat fare dat only MP,AP,n y tamilnadu r exception of NEET what have other state students done wera they hav to godnt make the students life miserable if so never d persons can b happy dis is my sincere request 1st change d portions for Fresh batch n den u aquire all rights to conduct NEET exam not even one state can oppose these MCI members just hav humanity guys

  5. wow.. really so damn happy to know that finally neet is being conducted.. atleast now v dun have to by-heart stuff. no offence. but the central syllabus is way much cool. we understand the concept,we can answer any questio unlike in eamcet wer v got to by-heart it n remember all the un-necessary stuff. :/

  6. I THINK NEET IN BETTER THAT EAMCET AS WE HAVE TO WRITE ONLY ONE EXAM THERE WILL BE NO STRESS ON THE STUDENT THAT HE/SHE HAS TO STUDY FOR MORE THAN 3-4 EXAMS! YA IT IS A POINT THAT THE PAPER SHOULD BE GIVEN IN THE REGIONAL LANGUAGE FOR THE STUDENTS WHO REQUIRE IT!! BUT I PREFER NEET TO EAMCET.

  7. WHY NEET IS BEING CONDUCTED IN HINDI.WHOEVER IS AGAINST THE REGIONAL LANGUAGE QUESTION PAPAERS SHOULD ANSWER THIS.IS THE HINDI VOCUBLARY OF MEDICAL TERMS SUFFICIENT ENOUGH FOR MEDICINE ASPIRANTS. I THINK IT SHOULD BE IN ENGLISH ONLY.HOW DO YOU EXPECT THE STUDENTS TO STUDY FOR THEIR XII EXAM WITH A DIFFERENT SYLLABUS FOR THE MARCH 2012 EXAM AND THEN PREPARE FOR NEET IN ONE MONTH THEREAFTER WITH INCREASED AND DIFFGERENT SYLLABUS. THE STATES SHOULD ADAPT THE NEET SYLLABUS FIRST FOR THEIR INTERMEDIATE STUDY AND THEN CONDUCT NEET PREFERABLY IN 2013.

  8. i am inter mediate final year student and i have read all views on the current topic . i have came to know the neet exam will be conducted instead of eamcet .we all have bought eamcet books from our collage and now we all are in the confusion to study eamcet or for neet .If neet is conducted why cant govt. conduct in telugu as it take difficulty to the students of telugu medium to understand english and i think that govt should wait a year to conduct the neet as it is national wise test.this is because we all are informed so late

  9. I think it would be a great difficulty for all the students whether from cbse side or from ssc side to prepare for a completely different syllabus from that which they had been preparing since 2 years. A major problem in conducting NEET right at the end of this academic year, with the information about it still unclear even a few months before conducting the examination, is that future of many students will be doomed into darkness for no fault of theirs!! The MCI is being extremely stupid in devastating the future of so many students. I would request the MCI group to rethink about their descision to conduct NEET in May 2012. THIS exam can also be postponed for a year until the students appearing for it(at least in the Andhra Pradesh region) are rather more clear about what they are about to choose for themselves.

    1. What wonderful ideas are coming Sir Ji,

      First : Syllabus is different.
      Second : Reservation Problem.
      Third : Regional language.

Does career mitra find out how many students have cleared their state medical Exam in their local language last year. Things will be crystal clear automatically. NEET is the need of the day to eradicate corruption for admission in Pvt medical college and to allow meritorious students to provide a level playing field.

  10. ithink that the question paper of neet should be in any regional language and sylaabus should be confirmed. the necessary lessons are to be translated in telugu and given to the students.all this work has to be done by the state govt.. and no inter average average must be taken

  11. IF NEET IS TO HAPPEN , THEN WHY TOMORROW ? WHY NOT TODAY ? DEFINITELY THIS IS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN .TODAY WE CAN MAKE QUESTION PAPERS IN REGIONAL LANGUAGES , BUT TOMORROW WE CAN’T MEET THE DEMAND OF MAKING MEDICAL COLLAGES LANGUAGE BASED . THEY HAVE TO LEARN ENGLISH OR HINDI BECAUSE SO MUCH DIVERSITY INSIDE THE COUNTRY WILL CREATE PROBLEMS IN BRINGING UNIFORMITY IN EDUCATION AND RESEARCH IN THE FIELD .

    1. ya sindhu but think how hell they can learn to answer in english in this few months once think of them. Are you able to write in telugu? of course not beceuse some words are difficult to understand son neet has to be conducted in next year under the guidence of lecturers.now we dont have to think of these national wide tests sudeenly

    2. Andhra Pradesh,Karnataka and West Bengal have asked for NEET Q PAPER being provided in their regional languages as well. In fact these states have been making doctors who cannot speak in English.. Even if these states allot seats for the national pool, most of the students joining in some of their colleges will not be coached well by these professors who are without fluency in English.
If any state wants to allow its students to write the NEET in the mother tongue, it is better it doesn`t join the National stream.

The only misery is for those bright students with fluency or proficiency in English who will end up learning things in their own states without a chance for proper moulding in the competent world outside their states. Some of the comments written here are examples for the type of English they have ever learnt or are learning at the PUC/INTERMEDIATE levels in these states.
Sorry for telling the harsh truth.

      M.D DINESH NAIR,
Head of the Dept of English,
      NRI Academy,Vijayawada

  12. I don’t understand why this MCI is doing so much of acting…why can’t they prepare the question papers in different regional languages?why the are behaving in such an irresponsible manner….?they say that they are trying to improve the condition of medical education in India…..but I have a doubt…????the present situation suggests that instead of improving ,it may decline.

  13. It is absolutely fair if the question is only in English. But if it is in Hindi it will help the Hindi medium students. English is international language everyone should have sound knowledge about English.

  14. its right thng to no the ability of students but its not correct time its must annouce at starting of year soo pls chage year to 2013

  15. well now its almost decided dat need is going to be there…………its gonna replace state eamcet but according to recent press meet gulam nabi azad agreed for giving the question paper in telugu. the problem is clarified or solved but here is another problem….ap is not included in common pool of states and so ap wont get seats from other states…..the govt. taken decision in haste but its the right decision ………we all support neet-ug but only thing is we demand that apmust be included in the common pool or else neet-ug will be a waste

    1. Hi Madhu
as far as i know AP was not included in AIPMT so it was not getting seats from other states, neither AP was giving its seats to the students of other states. But if NEET comes into effect from 2012 n AP accept it then obviously its students will get 15% quota all over India n 85% of its home seats.

  16. can anyone help me regarding age limit criteria in neet , there is no age limit in mp pmt , aiims, cg pmt , up ,raj &many other pvt. colleges exam like dmat bvp dy patil etc. neet will follow them or not………please help

  17. NEET 2012 is quite a hasty one. For all the states NEET 2013 should have been the right start. Please note TN is exempted from all entrance rxams

  18. it’s unfair for ap students as well as another states also demanding the paper in their local language ;ike ( gujrat karnataka kerla)

  19. Thanx srikanth….
    Neet is must in india…
But the language problem is still a big problem…
Mci have to think about dis…
Ya i agree with what u have questioned in ur post.. If cbse students were asked to write neet in telgu or simply in hindi then it will be almost an impossible task for them.. We cant learn telgu in such a tiny spam of time and the same condition with the A.P students as they cant learn the terms and words, already studied in telgu, in hindi…
Neet paper should be like aipmt mains paper… In one half question should be printed in english and in the other half same should be printed in regional language…
In aipmt mains exam in one half it is in english and in other half it is in hindi…

    1. hey…….

Students of local States can attempt NEET in their local languages Means AP students in Telugu/English/Hindi
      TN Students in Tamil/English/Hindi
      etc……..
