Computer Applications in Basic Science Courses


To make students more employable University of Madras this year has decided to add computer applications subjects to basic science courses such as B.Sc. Physics and B.Sc. Mathematics. After completion of the courses students will also be allowed to join MCA and M.Sc computer science.

Physics or Chemistry offered with the Mathematics course is replaced with computer science papers. But physics or Chemistry courses are optional. Around 60 per cent of the course will have mathematics or physics curriculum, and the remaining will be computer science. About six colleges have introduced the course this year. It is a known fact that these days any employment demands knowledge in computers; University of Madras have taken an apt decision; students from basic sciences will not be left behind.
