The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is a statutory body with powers to regulate management and technical education in India. Earlier in the month of October AICTE had expressed it’s will to hold a ‘Common Management Entrance Test (CMAT)’ for admissions into management courses in India. The proposed CMAT is expected to wipe out all other state based and national level based entrance exams with an exemption to CAT.
AICTE will conduct CMAT during 20th February 2012 to 28th February 2012, the test will be online; about 250,000 students are expected to take the test; a number quite good than this year’s CAT applicants (about 200,000 registered for this year’s CAT). AICTE hasn’t yet finalized about the Company which will conduct CMAT, the same Company will also run a call centre to support queries related to CMAT (registration, seat allotment, written test format etc) (via). The Company will have to win the tender to bag the contract to hold CMAT, earlier AICTE invited tenders; interested service providers are expected to bid tenders.
Important dates, CMAT format, application form details are yet to be announced; AICTE is desperate to conduct CMAT in the mentioned dates. What is your opinion? Is CMAT a good thing for an aspiring management student ? Leave your thoughts!
