The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is in the process of preparation for implementing the ‘Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT)’ from 2012. AICTE has invited tenders from interested parties who can administer CMAT; just like how Prometric is assisting IIMs in CAT administration, AICTE will seek support from service providers to implement CMAT which will be an online aptitude test.
As per the tender invite notice accessed by careermitra.com
“AICTE wishes to organize/conduct CMAT an online computer based test free from a paper and-pencil test in the year 2012. One of our interests would be to explore how service providers can facilitate taking this exam to a global level. AICTE invite responses to its “Request for Technical and Financial Proposals” from the short-listed tenderer/service providers. Conducting online CMAT-2012 is to be implemented at all stages including test announcement, registration, application processing, issuing admit cards, question bank development, test construction, test delivery, score processing, and result declaration.”
From 2012 aspiring management students can prepare for CMAT, which will be accepted by all AICTE approved management colleges.
CMAT typically lasts for about 3 hours and contains multiple choice questions. CMAT-2012 will be conducted from 20th February to 28th February 2012, and is expected to be administered to about 250,000 candidates all over India through test centres covering as many venues as required.
Further information will be updated in due course of time!
