Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi has been allotted another 100 acres of land for campus renovation. The allotment has been offered by the Haryana government, curently IIT Delhi is sprawled across a 320 acre land, the 100 acres recently added will be utilized for research, development and for entrepreneurship incubating centers said sources to Times of India.
IIT Delhi has written to Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to obtain necessary permissions for utilizing the recently allotted 100 acres.
The current campus of 320 acres (1.3 km2) is surrounded by the beautiful Hauz Khas area and monuments such as the Qutub Minar and Lotus Temple. The campus is also close to other educational institutions such as the Jawaharlal Nehru University, All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Indian Statistical Institute. The inside of the campus resembles a city, with gardens, lawns, residential complexes and wide roads. The campus has its own water supply and backup electricity supply along with shopping complexes to cater to the daily needs of residents.
IIT Delhi is currently finding shortage of space this allotted land will add to the beauty of the campus.
