IIM Shillong might be the first among the Indian Institutes of Management to offer both management courses and law courses. Ashoke K Dutta, director of IIM Shillong confirmed to TOI, a lot of progress has already been made to launch courses. However the course duration for law courses and the curriculum is not decided yet.
The law courses will also be inclined towards management subjects, as it becomes necessary to have management ethics for any individual in particular those who wear a black court and turn as a lawyer. In India there is a shortage of law colleges, with IIM Shillong setting the trend one can expect about other reputed business schools to follow.
Earlier IIM Indore became the first among the IIMs to open doors for under graduate courses with the launch of IPM (Integrated Programme in Management. You can read about it here.
