The Common Admission Test (CAT) is an entrance test for admissions into management courses in prestigious IIMs and other participating colleges (Non IIMs) in India. This year CAT will be conducted by IIM Calcutta (we have notified it  earlier), we did mention about IIMs new game plan for CAT.

CAT will be held over a period of 20 days and the expected dates are likely to be October 22, 2011 to November 18, 2011. There are two minor changes to the format of CAT

Number of section are reduced from three to two

Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation

Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning

Each of the above sections needs to be completed with in 70 minutes each. This year’s CAT takers mayn’t have an option of going back and forth between the sections. The sections has to be completed sequentially.

Note: Previous year’s sections Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning were two separate sections

The test duration is increased by 5 mins (140 mins, previously CAT duration was for 135 mins)
