Single Entrance Test Proposed for Engineering Admissions

The government has proposed for a single entrance test for admissions to engineering and technical courses including the IITs. The proposed National Aptitude Test is expected to benefit over 700,000 students. According to the current scenario, students have to undergo multiple entrance tests for engineering admissions like IITJEE, AIEEE, VITEEE.

By having a single entrance test the burden & stress in preparing for various entrance exams will be reduced on the student. Single entrance exam is not an uncommon aspect in India, Management Schools and Medical Colleges already adopt single entrance exams such as CAT & All India Pre Medical Entrance Test respectively.

Will a single entrance test really benefit students ? Share your thoughts!

  1. I THOUGHT THAT SINGLE CET PROPOSED BY GOVERNMENT IS CORRECT ,BUT NOT FROM 2012-2013 YEAR BECAUSE 12TH STUDENT FACE STATE BOARD EXAM . AND THEN AFTER THEY WERE GOING TO PREPARE NCRTE CYLLABUS WHICH IS BASED ON CBSE PATTERN AND ALSO DIFFERNT FROM STATE BOARD AS A RESULT THEY CAN NOT TOLLERATE THIS EXAM .AS A RESULT STUDENT CANT PERFORM WELL IN EXAM. SINGLE CET WILL POSSIBLE WHEN 12TH CYLLABUS CHANGE FROM NEXT YEAR.I WISH THAT SINGLE CET FROM 2013.
