The Indian Parliament has approved two new IIMs in the country one of which is IIM Kashipur in Uttarakhand, India. Presently IIM Kashipur is operational from a temporary campus located at Ganna Sansthan, Bazpur Road Kashipur. The Government of Uttarakhand has allocated approximately 200 acres of land in the Escorts Farm Area of Kashipur, Uttarakhand.
Today (29 April 2011) a foundation stone has been laid by Human resource development minister Kapil Sibal. Indian Institute of Management Kashipur (IIMKa) will cost Rs 800 crore approximately. Other dignitaries attended the event are Uttarakhand chief minister Mr.Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and former chief minister of state Mr.N D Tiwari.
IIM Kashipur is mentored by IIM Lucknow and the classes for first batch would commence from 1st July 2011.
