Delhi University drops 4 Year UG courses

Delhi_University's_official_logoUnlike the traditional way, last year the Delhi University has experimented a 4 year degree course to enhance more flexibility to it’s students. The students can choose the subjects they wish to study under the 4 years degree scheme, it became controversial when the HRD Minister Smriti Irani  announced scrapping of the 4 year degrees.

Students held protest, it went so long that the Delhi University UG admissions were on freeze; till the dilemma is resolved. According to a statement issued by Delhi University Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh, the University will roll back it’s degree programme to three years instead of 4 years. This should ease the confusion between the UGC & the University, Delhi University is one of the oldest universities in India established in the year 1922. Delhi University is fully funded by the Government of India.

Delhi University updates undergraduate courses to 4 year long

The undergraduate courses at Delhi University will be 4 years long from the coming academic year. The curriculum will also be upgraded, a move aimed to provide more freedom to students. Students can customize their degrees and choose which subject they wish to study in each semester. Students can also complete their graduation from any college under Delhi University.

The Delhi University is established in the year 1922 and fully funded by the Government of India. Some of the prestigious Institutions like St. Stephens College founded in 1881, Hindu College founded in 1899 and Ramjas College founded in 1917 are all affiliated to the Delhi University. The admission process for the undergraduate courses start in May each year.

Delhi University Launches Bachelor of Elementary Education (B El Ed)

Delhi University will soon open doors for a new course in Teaching (Bachelor of Elementary Education B El Ed); a four-year course offered at the undergraduate level. B El Ed will be offered in eight colleges – Aditi Mahavidylaya, Jesus and Mary, Lady Shri Ram, Gargi, Institute of Home Economics, Shyama Prasad Mukherji, Miranda House and Mata Sundri.

Delhi University to Launch 4 Year Maths-IT Degree

Delhi University will soon consider offering 4 year Maths IT Degree to take college education beyond classrooms and textbooks, the course will focus on innovation and hands-on learning through industry-based projects.

The proposed degree programme in mathematics and information and communication technology (ICT) will be interdisciplinary as well.

The course will train students to go into research, engineering, signal processing, electronics and computer science with industry oriented curriculum (projects).

The course will give 60% weightage to projects and innovations and 40% to classroom learning. DU plans to place the new programme before the executive council and academic council soon for approval so that it can be opened for admissions later this year.
