NEET UG & NEET PG, the CETs for MBBS & MD courses respectively will be held from 2013. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Under Graduate Courses (NEET-UG) will be conducted by CBSE while National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate Courses (NEET-PG) will be conducted by National Board of Examinations officials reconfirmed. The final syllabus for NEET UG has been placed on MCI official website (link).
Medical CETs are aimed to ease pressure on students, one entrance exam for all medical colleges will reduce stress & burden on students. Students need not appear for multiple entrance exams, for instance students this year are appearing for several medical entrance exams namely AIIMS, AIPMT, BHU CET, JIPMER, AFMC Medical Entrance Test, State level CET, AMU MBBS Test, Amrita School of Medicine Entrance Test and several others.
Considering the cost of application forms, coaching cost for these entrance exams it seemed wise and efficient to have a single entrance exam. Probably from next year their will be only three medical entrance exams NEET, JIPMER & AIIMS Medical Entrance, it is still unclear whether State level CETs will be overridden by NEET?
It is possible that few states will keep both the options open, MCI or the Government mayn’t completely close the doors. The Medical CETs was shown dead end last year because of syllabus & language barriers. Few states demanded for regional language question paper MCI has told they will only conduct the CET in English & Hindi.
