  1. NEET: MCI to announce postponement

    Mathrubhumi Education Online

Kochi, Jan 6, 2012: It is learnt from reliable sources that the Medical Council of India will officially announce the postponement of NEET-UG to the academic year, 2013-14.

MCI has recieved a letter from the Union Health Ministry regarding the deferment of the common entrance test to 2013. MCI will take up the matter tomorrow in its meeting and will officially announce the postponement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test to 2013.

Earlier CBSE had filed a plea in the apex court requesting permission to conduct NEET in 2012 itself. How ever, it is not known whether CBSE has withdrawn the plea, as they have already announced the notification for AIPMT-2012.

  2. this is to career mitra editors…

The first ever single window national entrance test
for MBBS and postgraduate admissions in the
country looks all set to be a reality next year after
the Centre’s attempt to defer it by a year got shot
down by Supreme Court on Friday.
    .

    .
The Court found no reason to entertain requests put
forth by Union Health Ministry and Medical Council of
India (MCI) to defer the National Eligibility-cum-
Entrance Test (NEET) for under-graduate and
postgraduate courses (also common entrance test (CET
for MBBS courses) to 2012-13 citing practical problems. Both the Centre and MCI were heard before the Court
had passed an order giving the green signal for NEET. Seeing the Centre’s flip-flop, the bench of Justices HL
Dattu and CK Prasad refused to be dragged into the
controversy. It said, “We will not be a party to
postponement of these regulations…You better start
preparations to implement it from 2012-13. We will
not allow you to postpone.” The Ministry’s application read as follows: “The
conduct of Under Graduate National Eligibility-cum-
Entrance Test (UG-NEET) is a Herculean task which
requires great deal of preparation and for paucity of
time it is practically impossible to resolve the issues
raised by various State Governments and hold the UG- NEET in 2012.” The application cited the various objections raised by
States, for instance, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa
willing to join the national test from 2013-14, Andhra
Pradesh seeking an exemption of two years, Kerala
demanding its reservation policies to be kept intact,
Assam disputing with criteria for minimum marks, West Bengal for inclusion of Bengali language as a
medium for conduct of the said examination and
Puducherry wanting exemption from the NEET. The bench dismissed the Centre’s demand and allowed
MCI to withdraw its application. However, the option
of rescinding the guidelines for NEET is still open as the
Government could still by issuing a notification
withdraw its decision to hold a common test to enable
lakhs of medical aspirants to apply for medical seats across the country through a single window test
instead of appearing for 26 exams. Through the NEET,
admissions to 15 per cent all India quota and 85 per
cent state quota seats in MBBS courses. Earlier, the difference of views within the Government
on this issue was evident in the SC last week when
opposed to Health Ministry application, the Central
Bureau of Secondary Education (CBSE) filed an
application seeking permission to conduct the test
    from next academic year.

  6. It was bound to happen. The authorities again have kept up the tradition of announcing late putting medical aspirants under tension for no fault of theirs.Bad luck CBSE guys/girls!!!!!!!!!.You have lost a golden opportunity of grabbing seats from state board students.Truth prevails!

  7. DISSAAPOINTING!! highly dissapointing! how shameful is da fact dat mci jus went around making neet ug and neet pg official on their website widout any kind of preparation.. its so unprofessional and thoughtless… pathetic… soooooo damn disorganised nd sick is da indian education system.. jus not expressable in words.. da only 2 ways of becoming a doc in india either you have to be genius getting thru dese shit entrance exams… or if u an avg. or above avg. student give up several years of ur lyf by slogging day nd nyt mugging up useless stuffs either be a million dollar baby so dat u cn fill da fat tummies of dese pvt colg. owners with cash… ridiculous… completely insane

      • Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra are asking for eptmxeion from NEET till they change their curriculum in 10+2. Though there may be some bias towards CBSE syllabus as like in IIT JEE, Medical Council of India may consider common syllabus for preparing question paper of NEET. Students those studying in state board colleges have to put extra efforts to crack NEET.

    • I m absolutly agree with u……..!!! This happen aftr strong opposing from WB cm Mamta banerji……
everyone know that no one have to take decision aginst mamta in Central Govrnment…..like FDI
….so this is a part of RAJNEETI…..How shameful….curruption enters in Indian Education..!!!

      • @Sandeep
You are right …Central Govt cannot afford to go against Mamata Banerjee … example FDI retail or Petrol price or Teesta water sharing….these are not her Rajneeti… but concern for the poor and under-privileged class…
Mamata opposed NEET because 70 to 75 % students who appear for Medical Entrance are not rich enough to get English Medium/CBSE education.. … she has taken bold decision against a Pvt College at Haldia… within 100 days as CM she had been able to increase 350-400 Govt Quota seats…thus AIPMT 2011 qualifying students have got 50-60 seats due to Mamata’s efforts…hope in 2012 she will gift us another 300-400 extra govt seats…

  8. jab yahi karna tha to iyna tension kyun dia…………………..poore saaal to kaha ki NEET hoga lekin ab cbse hoga.kam se kam inhe thoda time to de dena chahiye aur………………………………………………..india ko ghatiya yaha ke constitution ke logo ne banaya hai……………………..ji to chahta hai ki…………………

  9. isse bada unfortunet decision ek us poor and average student k liye kuchh nahi ho sakta jo doctor banne k sapne dekh rha he phir se bahi horrible and money making indian medical education system……………………………………………………

  10. finally :D :D .. thankyu mamta banerjee :) :)

Despite so many states opposing it , CBSE kept students in confusion !! HATED D CONFUSION PERIOD ! :/

  11. Haramkhoro….Jab yehi kerna tha to pehle se neet ki Exam date kyon nikali……Jyada khujli ho rahi thi kya……..ye to agle saal bhi nahi hoga neet ..phir koi ungli ker hi Dega…..!!

  12. baat haar jeet ki nahi . hum sabhi jante the k neet possible nahi 2012 me per ye nautanki itne dino q lgayiii , ye baat samaj nahi saki govt , ye desh kese chalari hai….

    isliye mai sochta hun

    govt badlo
    desh badlo

  13. India is a country of connivance and convenience it does not matter where the world is and what are the norms in today’s field of academics appraisal and assessment. We cannot accept change in its face value and merit. We are till today divided and self centered. NEET as concept will take time to be accepted it will take few more years. For those AGAINST NEET congratulation and those FOR NEET better luck next time which is not coming that soon for you are cause of inconvenience to many . Judiciary(SC) value opinion on the subject is under test as the case is not under the preview of ‘contempt of court’.

  14. very nice decision…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………now never can happen neet ug

  15. Cancellation of NEET-UG is really unfortunate. Hope it may happen in the next year if the foolish lobby do not again come in the way.

  16. very nice decision…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

  17. IT IS A VERY UNFORTUNATE DECISION. THIS COUNTRY WILL ONE DAY FACE ITS CONSEQUENCE WHEN THE PEOPLE WILL DYE DUE TO LACK OF QUALIFIED DOCTORS.

    • plz dont cancelled neet ug for 2012,,,
